The Nexus GC/IR interface blends the
separation capability of gas chromatography with the
identification power of FT-IR to provide an effective and
efficient tool for analyzing complex mixtures.
The Nexus GC/IR Interface Module is
optimized for the analysis of small elution volumes found in
today's high-resolution capillary columns, achieving
excellent sensitivity for compounds typically in the low
nanogram range for volatile species. The GC/IR interface
module consists of an optimized second compartment attached
to the collimated beam port of any Nexus optical bench.
The Nexus GC/IR Interface Module is
effective for the analysis of multicomponent organic samples
such as solvents, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, petrochemicals
and environmental samples. It features permanently aligned
optics in the interface that leave the standard sample
compartment free for other applications. It is designed for
direct insertion of the capillary column into the lightpipe,
which eliminates component degradation and peak broadening
in the transfer line.
The Nexus GC/IR Interface Module's
independent programmable temperature controllers for the
light pipe and transfer lines allow the user to precisely
control the experiment. The insulated transfer line and
light pipe prevent cold spots and condensation. Thermo
Nicolet's patented, high sensitivity MCT-A detector is
pinned-in-place and can easily be interchanged with
spectrometer without any alignment. The GC/IR Interface
Module's detectors feature a patented mechanism that
prevents the formation of ice on the detector element and
provide an 18-hour liquid nitrogen hold-time.
